MY SO-CALLED 'SECOND LIFE'

I've been a member of Second Life for several years, but it wasn't until Brigid Ashwood and Renee Biertempfel conceived of Brythony Isle, a fantasy-themed home for artists and art lovers alike, that I really started spending time there. Now, there is also a residential isle connected to Brythony, called Caer Llyr. Ohhhh, how addictive it is! Second Life is like going on virtual vacation to (almost) anywhere you can imagine - if you can envision it, chances are someone's built it in Second Life. Below are a few images I've taken whilst hanging out in Second Life. As you will see, you can own property and purchase homes as well as furnishings for your virtual home (why not some lovely art from one of the many talented denizens of Brythony?), and clothing for your virtual self in any style you can imagine. For more info on Brythony and Caer Llyr, visit www.brythonyisle.com.

Brythony recently underwent a refurbishment, and we all got brand new shoppes. This is mine - I'm right next door to Jasmine Becket-Griffith on one side, with Renee Biertempfel on the other side over the walkway, and the Faerie Magazine Second Life Office just around the corner.

Here is a view in front of my home in Caer Llyr - as you can see, I have some gentle visitors for the holidays.

From Hallowe'en of this year, one of my cats (this is Luthien, the other is Minerva) playing hide and pounce behind the pumpkins at the previous shoppe (black cats are good at blending into the shadows!).

This is the Tudor cottage I built to use as a workshop in Second Life - it's for sale on SLExchange, although it's just a fairly simple build with some especially nice textures (the best way to go in SL is to try for simple, low-prim builds with good textures - good textures can make up for the lack of prims).

Here are virtual representations of me and my real-life husband.

'Me' in Mermaid mode in the pool Renee built for me (she also built the house).

One can even ride a unicorn, if one is so inclined :) - here I am by the drumcircle below the castle (taken before the renovations).

The nightlife is always hopping in Second Life - even if it's the middle of the afternoon! Here are a couple of shots of LeeLu (Renee) and Elizabeth (Me) getting their boogie on.

Rockerfeller Centre, Schmockerfeller Centre - in Second Life, you can have your own private skating rink (and you can dress up as a Sugar Plum Faery, if you like).
