I have made my way through the Harry Potter books over the last few weeks. Now, whatever am I to do until the 7th book?! I know there'll be a movie or two between now and then, but that will only make the pain of waiting more acute, methinks. **sigh** I never thought I'd be "hooked on Harry", but that woman can write!!

Isn't it weird, but I have never been able to get into the Potter books, I saw a couple of the movies and this last one I saw "the prisioner" to me was so terribly dark......I must be the only one around that does not care for them. Maybe I should give them another shot..?? Have you finished inking in the pumpkin patch?
Actually, I wasn't very into the whole Harry Potter thing when I saw the first film. I thought "Oh, that was cute" and that was it. I saw the second film because Kenneth Branagh was in it! And I thought "Well, I'll see another one of the films if they bring back Ken's character". So I hadn't seen the third film til just recently - after I'd started reading the books. I only got bit by the Potter bug when I started reading the books and they were just so much richer than the films could be - so much more detail and additional scenes that really flesh out the tale and the characters. So, then I saw "Prizoner", and I'm really looking forward to "The Goblet of Fire", which opens the day before my birthday, so Happy Birthday Me! I agree that "Prizoner" was much darker, and maybe the transition from the lightness of the previous two films to the darkness that creeps into the tale with "Prizoner" is too stark in the filmed version - but, the tale does begin to turn darker and more serious with the third book. Stephen King said something to the effect that the books have gone from kid's fiction to literary classic material - I think he's right; they're becoming more like what Tolkien's tales have (sort of a mythology of their own) with each book. I don't know if they'll be quite as well-beloved and well-known as Tolkien's books, but they're still good tales for the most part! It couldn't hurt to give them another try! It took two or three tries before I ever got into Lord of the Rings!
I finished the Pumpkin Patch! There should be an update to the web site later this week! :)
