Lemme get this straight...Martha Stewart was cleared by probation officers in advance to attend a Time dinner, but now they've decided she may have violated terms of her probation by attending? Can you say "entrapment" boys and girls?
I've been working on the website this weekend. I'm in the process of seperating the artist from the entrepreneur, so to speak. So, I'll have my art hosted at marylayton.net (which is now available, but not finished [except for the journal], so it's just a "coming soon" page at the moment) and the wedding and social stationery business will remain at lunagrove.com. I'm really quite excited about the upcoming launch, as I'll be offering some other items that I'd not been able to offer before. I'm changing the layout and appearance just a bit, and generally tidying things up. For a sneak-peak at the new look you can check out the about the artist page, but be warned that the gallery links will be broken or non-existant until I've finished the updating - probably next weekend.
So, The Prez™ was prevented from attending an Earth Day celebration due to a freak hail storm...could it be that Someone might be trying to send him a message? Hmmmmmmm....
Last, but most certainly not least - Happy Birthday Fish!
Here's what I'm currently working on to donate to the Jinni Hoggard Fundraiser:

I know it's not my standard fantasy fare, but I wanted to do something that might appeal to a wider audience, and therefore, hopefully raise lots more money! The Irises are modelled after my own "Hot Cocoa" and "Pink Cloud" plantings, which are just about to burst into bloom again. I'll post pictures of them later, when they're in all their glory.
I've also designed a logo for the fundraiser, which seems to be going under the moniker of "Hogg Fest". The first was the original design, the second is an updated design, after Roch suggested just having the 't' be a ribbon:

I'm not sure which I like best. I like the idea of having the words morphing into the ribbon, but for print advertising, the latter would probably be best as we may be restricted to black and white.
"House" was quite good tonight...I do like Chi McBride, but his character was a real bastard! Can't say I'm altogether sad to see "Vogler" go, but I'll miss Mr McBride, as he's quite a fine actor!
I had one of those dreams last night. I don't have them very often...maybe once a year - twice at the most, but they're always hard to take. It's never the same thing in the dream...maybe the same theme, but never exactly the same as the time before. I was telling Grahams about it and he thought it was rather odd. You see, these particular dreams result in me crying (in the dream) and I wake up crying. I just assumed it happened to everyone from time to time, but now I wonder. Am I an oddity? Well, yeah, I know - I'm a bit odd anyway, but I mean am I a "wake up crying"-dream-oddity? Has this ever happened to you? Some dream with heavy emotional content resulting in a crying jag that manifests itself physically in reality, not just in the dream. Anybody else get that?
Greensboro101 gets some frontpage time in Monday's News & Record. Ed Cone gets some space in the column as well, expounding on the growing interest in Greensboro101 type blog networking.
I must admit to being somewhat ambivalent about Saturday's nuptials between Prince Charles and the former Mrs Parker-Bowles. Well, only somewhat.
On the one hand, I think, "well, I suppose it's about time". I mean they've been in love for over 30 years. Had the Royal Establishment not been so prudish, and Charles so wishy-washy about fighting for love all those years ago, the two would have married and Lady Diana Spencer (probably having made a good marriage and produced a house full of lovely children) might still be alive. We'd have never known her as we do, of course, but that light might still brightly shine, but for fate. On the other hand, I'm a bit of a Diana loyalist, so I don't want to be too giddy for the newlyweds. Sure, the late Princess of Wales was not without her faults, and goodness knows she had her fair share of neurosis and other sundry quirks; but, she sure knew how to work that charm and endeared herself to millions even whilst her "fairytale" marriage and it's assorted dirty laundry exploded and splattered all over the media. In essence, I think she was truly a good-hearted person, thrown into the royal machinery and caught in way over her head. Given the life of fringe nobility, she'd have probably lived to a ripe-old, scandal-free age - grand-children and maybe even great-grand-children running amok in the garden, taking tea with her nearest and dearest and gossiping about the royal family. If she were alive today, she might be spinning in her grave at the thought of Camilla being stepmother to her two boys. However, even Diana (wherever her free spirit may be), would probably agree that those lads are pretty much past the age of being "mothered" - step, or otherwise - and that in the big scheme of things, two ol' farts finally tying the knot after 30-odd years of cocking up - in the name of love - marriages entered into in the name of propriety, makes a fair end to the soap opera tale that is "House of Windsor".
I can't help it - I really like Diana, Princess of Wales. For all her faults, she was just too nice, just too "REAL" not to like. That being said, Camilla -- emmm - HRH, The Duchess of Cornwall -- did look lovely today. Her features softer than I'm used to seeing in the photos one sees in the media. Maybe it was the relief of finally settling down with her true love, after many, many years of hurt - not just that of the "victims" of the love affair, her ex-husband and children, and her new husband's ex-wife and children - but her own and his own hurt of what could have and probably should have been. Happily ever after...finally?
So, tonight, I raise a glass: To Diana, Princess of Wales - May you rest in peace and know only happiness, wherever your soul may be, ever after. And, to TRH Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall - May the rest of your years be spent in peace and healing and happiness.
